We Provide The Following Services

Natural Resource

Management Solutions

     The Patterson Ecological Consultants (PEC) approach to natural resource management is to get it right the first time. Fundamentally, this involves getting to know the goals and objectives from each stakeholder to create studies and assessments that are well planned at the design phase. Supported through science and data, we build upon previous successes that assist in understanding cause and effect relationships vital to developing a strategy moving forward.

     We apply reason and logic to resource management, executed through breadth and depth of experience. We embrace the perspective that the path of sustainability requires acknowledgement that wealth is not just economic; it is fundamentally the health of our environment and our communities. PEC draws from the expertise of our professional disciplines and from community knowledge holders; respect for diverse knowledge informs our work. This approach provides a comprehensive understanding that enables informed decision-making. We specialize in invasive species management and wildlife conflict mitigation.

Our approach includes:

  • Engaging stakeholders early in the process to guide baseline data collection, selection of valued components, and evaluation of potential effects; designing for the future: tailoring data collection programs to address perceived and potential issues;

  • Ensuring that relevant regulatory requirements form part of the planning process and that appropriate permits and approvals are acquired;

  • Evaluating existing conditions and proposed changes from a multi-disciplinary perspective that focuses on the interconnections between environmental components;

  • Evaluating potential effects at a spatial and temporal scale that is ecologically relevant; and providing mitigation measures that are ecologically sound and technically achievable.
